FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: Will DL wefts cause hair loss? A: When DL extensions are installed properly and regularly maintained, they will not cause traction alopecia (hair loss from the scalp, due to tension, traction or weight). Our unique method of application allows weight to be distributed evenly, and feeling lighter.
Q: What is the maintenance like and how long will my wefts last? A: Your re-install appointment will be 8 - 10 weeks or up to 12 weeks, depending on your natural speed of hair growth. As our wefts are the highest quality of double-drawn hand-tied hair available, with proper care our ethically sourced Indian Temple hair typically lasts up to one year.
Q: Is it safe to swim to go swimming with extensions? A: As with any color treated hair, if going swimming, hair dampened with water and a leave-in conditioner, will help saturate the porous hair strands, protecting it from absorbing chlorine and salt water, which are both quite drying.
Q: Why did my blonde weft extensions turn pink? A: This will happen when the ingredient Avobenzone, found in aerosol or run-in sunscreen, comes into contact with blonde hair. When applying rub-on sunscreen, allow it to dry fully before contact with hair. Apply spray-on sunscreens in a draft-free area.
Q: Can wefts be colored or lightened? A: While all DL extensions can be toned or colored darker, only Indian Temple wefts can be lightened. DL wefts can be color matched to your natural hair or colored hair.. the line offers a wide range of solids to highlighted hair, also trendy rooted and balayage colors.
Q: How do I prevent knotting? A: Never go to bed with wet hair, it must be completely dry. Sleeping with a low braid or ponytail will help avoid excess tangles or knotting. Only use a wet brush, brushing from seam to end when wet or dry. Section by each row when brushing.
Q: How do I cleanse my extensions properly? A: Ideally, shampooing minimally will give longevity to the life of your extensions. Apply shampoo to and cleanse only your roots, allowing the excess length of hair to be cleansed gently by the sudsy run off. Do no apply shampoo directly to mid length or ends, and do not massage vigorously. Never apply conditioner to the scalp area, especially not to the seams of the weft, as this will cause premature slippage of the weft.
Q: When styling, what heat setting should I use? A: No higher than 370 degrees and always use heat protectants specifically formulated for hair. Do not use food products such as coconut oil which has a smoke point of 350 degrees.
